چکیده

This study demonstrates the potential of different cinnamate esters, namely methyl trans-cinnamate (MC), isobutyl (IBC), allyl (AC), and ethyl (EC), as environmentally friendly plasticizers for polylactide (PLA). Plasticized PLA formulations with a constant nominal wt% 20 each plasticizer are compounded in twin-screw co-rotating extruder subsequently processed by injection molding. The results show exceptional plasticization efficiency AC an increase elongation at break from 3.9% (neat PLA), up to 339.4% remarkable impact strength, thus showing great overcome main drawback related intrinsic brittleness. incorporation cinnamates matrix leads decrease Tg 61.7 °C down 36.1 plasticized formulation containing AC. Thermogravimetry analysis reveals that slight loss occurs during processing, it happens other monomeric plasticizers, but this phenomenon does not limit their efficiency. Therefore, obtained confirm suitability new family organic compounds derived esterification cinnamic acid green improved toughness, comparable, or even superior, ductile properties typical PLA.

Antiviral activity of cholesteryl esters of cinnamic acid derivatives.

Cholesteryl 3",4"-dimethoxycinnamate (7) and a new synthesized o-coumaroyl ester of 3 beta-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)-cholest-5-en (13) exhibited a marked activity against poliovirus type 1 (Mahoney). Compound 7 showed an approximately 20-fold greater selectivity in its antiviral activity than compound 13. These compounds were selected from thirteen steryl esters of cinnamic acid derivatives through an...

Quantitative Structure-Cytotoxicity Relationship of Cinnamic Acid Phenetyl Esters.

BACKGROUND/AIM Many phenolic acid phenethyl esters possess diverse biological effects including antioxidant, cytoprotective, anti-inflammation and anti-tumor activities. However, most previous antitumor studies have not considered the cytotoxicity against normal cells. Ten cinnamic acid phenetyl esters were subjected to quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analysis, based on thei...

Synthesis and antifungal activity of cinnamic acid esters.

Cinnamic, p-coumaric and ferulic acids were isolated from pineapple stems (Ananas comosus var. Cayenne). Twenty-four kinds of esters were prepared from these acids, alcohols and the components of Alpinia. Isopropyl 4-hydroxycinnamate (11) and butyl 4-hydroxycinnamate (12) were found to have almost the same effectiveness in antifungal activity against Pythium sp. at 10 ppm as that of the commerc...

Industrial vegetable oil by-products increase the ductility of polylactide

The use of industrial by-products of the vegetable oil industry as ductility increasing additives of polylactide (PLA) was investigated. Vegetable oil deodorization condensates were melt-blended by twin-screw extrusion up to a maximum inclusion quantity of 20 wt% without preliminary purification. Sample films were obtained by single screw cast extrusion. Compounded PLA films featured largely im...

Bioactivity and structure-activity relationship of cinnamic acid esters and their derivatives as potential antifungal agents for plant protection

A series of cinnamic acid esters and their derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for antifungal activities in vitro against four plant pathogenic fungi by using the mycelium growth rate method. Structure-activity relationship was derived also. Almost all of the compounds showed some inhibition activity on each of the fungi at 0.5 mM. Eight compounds showed the higher average activity with ...
